HIGH-FREQUENCY ULTRASONIC  TECHNOLOGY COMPANY OF THE YEAR

Developed by engineer Nick De Vos, NDV Ultrasonic BV designs high-frequency ultrasonic electronic devices. The Temse-based innovator is inspired by developing a greener world, and its technology offers many applications for homes, industrial sites, agriculture, and seafaring vessels. NDV Ultrasonic's devices use high frequencies to break down the biofilm from liquids, which can produce dangerous bacteria and limescale. Biofilm is a product of water itself, and develops into a slime layer which is difficult to remove from the inside wall of pipes, storage tanks, and water wells. As a complex mixture of micro-organisms, the bacteria in biofilm can multiply quickly and affect drinking water, whilst the bacteria itself can produce corrosive chemicals which damage metal pipes.

The technology developed by NDV Ultrasonic is entirely chemical free and creates sound frequencies higher than 22-kHz – inaudible for humans and animals – which can destroy the structure of bacteria through ultrasonic vibrations, removing biofilm permanently. NDV Ultrasonic's innovative devices are simple to install and require no maintenance, whilst they are permanently supplied to power but consume very little energy – making them an ideal long-term investment for homes and businesses. For domestic installations, the devices are ideal for use in boilers and water pipes - enabling them to stay cleaner for much longer - whilst homeowners with swimming pools, hot tubs, and garden ponds can also benefit. NDV Ultrasonic's life began with industrial applications, and these are larger projects where Nick can assess what exactly is required to boost the efficiency of water treatment systems, irrigation systems, storage tanks, and cooling and heating systems on an industrial or agricultural site.

The judging panel was impressed by the exceptional range of benefits the company's ultrasonic devices offer. NDV Ultrasonic has developed a green, chemical-free, and low-maintenance product that can save homes and businesses money, whilst simultaneously having a positive impact on the environment around them. The high-frequency devices reduce algae and remove bacteria, making drinking water for humans and animal safer, and drastically decrease the ability for limescale to develop in pipes and tanks - preventing damage and reducing maintenance on those systems, ensuring they last for much longer.
